Defending The Trinity

Definition: "There is only one God, but in the unity of the Godhead,
there are three co-equal persons, Father, Son, and Spirit."

"This is not humanly logical because God is not a human. This is how
God has revealed Himself as an infinite being in the Bible. It is Biblical!

I. The Unity of God - there is only one God, one supreme being.
-- Deuteronomy 4:35
-- Deuteronomy 6:4 supported by Jesus in Mark 12:29-34
-- Isaiah 43:10; 44:6,8; 45:5,6
-- 1 Corinthians 8:4; 1 Timothy 2:5; Romans 3:30

II. The Trinity of God - in the unity of the Godhead, there are three
co-equal persons, Father, Son, and Spirit.
A. Three persons are called God.
1. Father --John 6:27; Galatians 1:1
2. Son (Jesus) --John 20:28-29; Titus 2:13
3. Holy Spirit --Acts 5:3-4; 1 Corinthians 2:10
Jeremiah 31:31-34; Hebrews 10:15-17

B. The three persons are all one.
1. The Father and Son are one --John 10:30; 14:6-11
2. The Son and the Spirit are one -- Romans 8:9
3. The Father and the Spirit are one -- Romans 8:9

C. The three persons appear together as equals, but in different roles.
1. O.T.
Zech.2:10-13; 4:6
Creation: Genesis 1:1(God), Eph.3:9-11 (Father)
Colossians 1:16 (Son), Job 33:4 (Spirit)
2. N.T.
Matthew 28:19 “name” -- singular
2 Corinthians 13:14
Matthew 3:16-17

The best way to show the Biblical doctrine of the Trinity is to show that
the Bible teaches that: There is only one God, yet three persons are
called God, are one, and appear together as equals.
